The placement of the thermostat is also important so that its sensors can get an accurate reading of the temperature. Keep in mind that ducts used for heating might not be the right size or in the right location for optimal cooling.

A BTU or British Thermal Unit is a measurement of how much energy is required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree. The way I read it, if you only use the AC, I would use it too.
